Guardian Home Program

At Buckfield Pups, we believe every dog deserves to grow up in a loving home. Our Guardian Home Program allows select families the opportunity to raise one of our top-quality breeding dogs as their very own family pet, while partnering with us in our breeding program.

Rudy

is our 2 year old AKC red Toy Poodle stud that we use for most of our litters in our program. He is fully health tested and weighs 11 lbs. He's a sweet, people-oriented boy with excellent structure, rich red coloring, and proven genetics. We are looking for a loving guardian home where Rudy can enjoy family life while remaining available for scheduled breedings. His guardian family will provide daily care, training, and companionship, while we cover all breeding-related expenses much like our Dams. This is a wonderful opportunity to own a top quality stud without the stud-fee investment.

We do not have any available female pups for Guardian Homes at this time but please check back soon! We will have more pups available in our upcoming litters.

How It Works

As a Guardian Home, you'll provide a permanent, loving home for one of our puppies. She will live with you as your family pet while remaining in our program until retirement. Once retired, she will be spayed and ownership will be fully transferred to you at no cost.

While your dog will be with you full-time, there will be certain periods when she stays with us. This includes:

- When she is being bred

- During pregnancy and whelping

- While raising her litter (typically 6 weeks)

Once her puppies are weaned, she will return home to you until the next breeding cycle.

What You Provide

- A safe, loving home environment

- Everyday care and expenses (food, grooming, routine vet visits, vaccinations, flea/tick prevention, etc.)

- Commitment to feeding Purina Pro Plan

- Ability to bring your dog to us for breeding when needed

- Willingness to communicate with us and follow program guidelines

- Must live within 30 minutes of Buckfield Pups

- Spay surgery at retirement prior to transfer of ownership

What We Provide

-Cover all breeding-related expenses

(genetic testing, health testing, stud services, whelping, etc.)

- Support and guidance whenever you need us

- A lifelong relationship with the Buckfield Pups family

Why Become a Guardian Home?

Guardian Home FAQ

Q: How many litters will she have?

A: Each dog will remain in our program until retirement. The number of litters will be determined by Buckfield Pups. Each female's breeding career depends on her health, vet recommendations, and our program needs. Once she is retired, she will be spayed (guardian family covers the cost) and ownership will be transferred to you.

Q: Who owns the dog?

A: Buckfield Pups retains full ownership until retirement. At that point, she will be spayed (guardian family covers the cost) and full ownership will be signed over to you.

Q: Who pays for what?

A: The guardian family covers everyday expenses (food, grooming, routine, vet care, vaccinations, flea/tick/heartworm prevention). Buckfield Pups covers all breeding-related costs (genetic testing, health testing, breeding, whelping).

Q: What food does she eat?

A: Guardian families must feed Purina Pro Plan 30/20 to maintain consistency and quality nutrition.

Q: What happens when she goes into heat?

A: You will notify us right away. We'll give you instructions on how to care for her during this time and coordinate when she needs to come to us for breeding.

Q: How long will she be away from us?

A: She will stay with us during breeding, pregnancy, whelping, and while raising her litter. This is usually 6 weeks.

Q: What if something happens to her while in our care?

A: As her family, you are responsible for her health and safety just like with any pet. If it's breeding-related, Buckfield Pups covers the cost.

Q: Do we get paid for being a Guardian Home?

A: No. The benefit is that you receive a high-quality breeding dog with no upfront purchase price.

Q: What if we move or our situation changes?

A: Guardian homes must remain within 30 minutes of Buckfield Pups. If your circumstances change, we'll revisit the agreement together.
